SAVANNAH – Bruce B. Comer, 91, died Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Savannah Commons, under the care of Hospice Savannah.
A native of Raleigh, NC, he graduated from Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh.
He served in the United States Navy from 1940 until his retirement in 1960. He was a member of the Navy League of the United States and the Fleet Reserve Association. Mr. Comer later retired from a career in banking with Savannah Bank & Trust Co. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.
Mr. Comer was preceded in death by his wife, Mackey B. Comer and his son, Donald B. Comer.
Surviving are his daughter, Elizabeth C. Homans of Be'erSheva, Israel; 2 sisters, Ethel C. Johnson of California and Hilda Walker of Washington; 6 Grandchildren, Karen, Claire, and Rachel in Israel, and Ryan, Matthew, and Andrew in the U.S.; 7 great-grandchildren, OrEl, AnaEl, Aviv, Eitan, Tamir, and Amalya in Israel, and Caroline in Atlanta, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel on Monday from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum, with Full Military Honors.
